A commemorative engraved stone marking the inauguration of China’s first wild animals and natural reserves college was unveiled at Northeast Forestry University in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, on July 28.

The college was established to respond to moves made nationally to strengthen initiatives to preserve and protect the environment.

It will focus on carrying out research into ecological security protection and resource monitoring, social governance and development in nature reserves, providing proposals for mapping out at the highest level national ecological protection strategies and policies, said Zou Hongfei, dean of the college.
