Harbin to establish 24 renewable energy projects

Harbin, capital city of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, will establish 24 biomass power generation projects from 2018 to 2020, in an effort for the city to push forward the use of new energy and renewable energy to improve energy consumption structure and strengthen environmental protection.

The total installed capacity of biomass power constructed in the following three years will reach 537.5MW.

Among which, 16 of them are agricultural and forestry biomass power generation projects, with a total installed capacity of 462 MW; and eight are domestic waste power generation projects, with a total installed capacity of 75.5MW.

Additionally, Harbin will establish 380 straw processing projects capable of handling 3.8 million tons of straw per year.

In recent years, the renewable energy industry in Harbin has been riding a tide wave.

Statistics from Harbin Municipal Development and Reform Commission reveals that the industrial output value of renewable energy industry in the city saw a year-on-year increase of 13.9 percent in 2017.

As of June, 2018, the total installed capacity of biomass power in Harbin has reached 1,091.71MW, with photovoltaic power, wind power, waste incineration and hydropower as its main electricity generation resources.
